SEVEN DEGREES WEST!

Written By
Abimbola Olaboye

The Wild West, aka the Old West, was an astoundingly awesome period in American history that every person who has ever played Red Dead Redemption wants to emulate. Now, clearly pop culture has turned much of the true West into legend.
Many a great people have claimed association or connection to the west. Be it movie stars, music stars especially rappers, sheriffs and the list goes on and on. The west in their minds is a place that places them among the most powerful, toughest, sharp survival instinct, the richest, the most commanding and the most respected small elite class of specially gifted people.
Though there were never quick-draw artists who could shoot a six gun out of your hand with another six gun. #This reminds me of my friend RANGO# But the basics were true.
I once had a connection with the west, though not what you think. I met a lady,*coughs* she was sooooooooooooooooooooo..................................................................... let the poem explain who she was and her challenges.

Happy Reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEVEN DEGREES WEST!

Towards the tail of teens,
so beautiful yeah really really tempting,
dainty body in yellow and green,
thought she could do everything,
but he would never allow her to live up the dreams.

That singled her out among her pears,
never shouts or screams,
rather as silent as grave.

Let me quickly tell you about her,
striving to improve
so that she would never be disapproved

PILLOW PET

As I close my eyes to sleep..
I savor images in the deep
Pictures of you that's mine to keep
Your pleasant smile, your curvely hip
They filled my day,and wet my lip
Your beauty glims, your sweetness drip
I sat beside you and touched your tip
T'was all I need to bless my trip
You're the love I want to keep
Just say you love me and let me sleep.

LOVING YOU

Written By
Adegbile Samson Adeniyi

Love is in the air
I wonder why you cannot hear
In the morning it kept crying
At night it is wailing
Saying to the whole world what is endearing
Enduring what the whole world thought is annoying
Addressing what the whole world is suppressing
Sacrificing what is mutually important
Motivating what seams depressing
Loving you all my live is my pleasure

All this while I kept on waiting
Wait, wait, wait it seems unending
End it now it keep multiplying
Multiply it roots and get the square root
Square it up and get the answer
Answer me now it takes forever
For better for worst that’s my desire
Desiring good things just isn’t a crime
Cleaving to you all my life
Loving you all my live is my pleasure
WHAT IF

WHAT IF

Written By

What if I was a proud owner of a financial empire
And I had enough to last us till we, in death, retire?

What if I had my name earmarked for the history pages
And I increased in wisdom till I was the envy of the sages?

What if even chose to live all my life a clown
Just for you, ?cause I hate to see you frown?

What if I wanted, at night, to lie so close to you
Having said those nuptial vows, promising to be true to you?

MALARIA

Written By
Adegbile Samson Adeniyi

Malaria
The black man’s disease
Killing more than a million daily
Spread by a small insect called “mosquito”
You are the only one who scared the Westerners off Africa
You killed more than HIV or AIDS yearly
Tuberculosis can’t be compared to you
Hepatitis cannot stand your scourge
Neither is cancer a match to you
Oh malaria!

How come you are the black man’s disease?
Africa is my home; besides
Many Africa states share suffix with me
Algeria is my bedroom
Ethiopia is my living room
Gambia is my labour room
Liberia is my playing ground
Namibia is my gymnasium
Nigeria is my market place
Tanzania is my place of work
Tunisia is my research centre
Zambia is my palace

BROTHERS

BROTHERS

Written By
Imoh Richard

Sometimes I wonder,
What makes us so thick,
I sit and pounder
Why we cant ever part

Just then I remember
Our vey own secret
Spanning years so younger
When around mama’s sweet meal we sat

When just like thunder
Emotions clash
Oh, I recall mamas face gone sour
Hoping to control another fight

And yet content only to prayer
Knowing the folly of taking sides
Because of course we are brothers
And brothers fight

In the day we fought
But brothers we still are
In the night we fight
Such and endless tide

Woe betides any woman
To have the four of us
But mama did
Having no other

In the house
Fight we did
When we go outside
Woe on any
To raise a hand any
Of the brothers
Because we are brothers,
And brothers protect brothers

And guess that’s what make the sword sharper

A DIRGE FOR MOTHER NATURE

By Imoh Richard

Come on children, lets sing a song
Lets sing of fields soo green
Lets sing of sky so blue
Lets sing of happy birds clapping feathers so hued

Come on children, lets sing a song
Lets sing of the earth so great
Lets sing of heroes decades a gone
Whose brave legs trod the soil beneath our feet

Come on children, lets sing a song
Lets sing of the ocean so vast
Lets sing of the whale basking in the sun
Of crocs with an open mouth
Waiting for the next meal
God saves the unwary prey

Men In Black

Men In Black

written on august 3, 2010

If you care to know, this was my first attempt at writing.

To their red eye
white is black.

Black cap,
Black shirt,
Black trouser,
Black shoe.
A black iron with boiling lead inside
They use it to take the lives they are supposed to protect.

We see them,
We meet them.
Never once in our lifetime.
If not everyday, every week.
We cannot run from them!

White teeth, black heart!
They are to be feared.

To My Loving Phone (Nokia 3110c)

Here I am,
All alone.
I am not lonely because
Loneliness is always with me.
Not my best friend.
I have a friend
One i can't seem to live without.
Like best friends, we are always together
Leaving home without him is a cause for panic
Not really that he his mute,
But we can't communicate.
He serves as a mediator
Between me and my other friends.
He fits right into my pocket
We live in a technological year, remember?
Some think i'm addicted
To this my friend,
My phone

MISSING YOU

NOTE: This Poem was inspired by the song 'Missing You' by Case

I'm missing you
Like the cold without the rain
Like the brain without pain
Like an indigent who feigns
I'm missing you.
Like the snow falling down in june
Like the cock crowing at noon
Like the night without the moon
I.m missing You
Like harmattan in august
Like snows in Death Desert
Like the stars that twinkles not
I'm missing you

THE NEW MARRIAGE

In the name of God
A man and a woman is joined.
With that a word is coined.
MARRIAGE!

Some call it.
An enduring relationship.
To some it is.
The beginning of a new beginning.
Now i wonder, what is marriage?
A union between a man and a woman?

Isn't it anomaly?
A man comes out and say.
"I am the husband"
Another man comes out and say

LIFE'S PARADOX!

We yearn for relief from these problems!
We dream of peace
But we are plagued by war.
We cherish law and order
But we cannot stop robbery, rape and murder.
We want to trust our Neighbours
But we have to lock our doors for protection.
We love our children
We instill wholesome values in them
But we watch helplessly as they succumb to
unwholesome influence.

The world is safe!
